Freeport Junior Club Bylaws
Our season runs from Last Sunday of September to the 3rd week of June and we meet from 2:00pm to 6:00pm.
All dues are due at the start of the season. Dues are non-refundable. If your dues are not paid, you will be deemed to be a member not in good standing and your ID card must be surrendered.
NRA membership is required and your Id number must be on file. Speak to the staff about NRA applications.
As a member in good standing in the Junior Club, you may participate in any lawful activity at the range with a parent/guardian who is a Freeport NY R & R “Big” Club member in good standing.
As a member in good standing in the Junior Club for 5 years, the Junior Club will supply, upon request, a letter which will help your membership in the “Big” Club. This can occur only on, or after, your 21st birthday.
Freeport Junior Club Rules
There is NO running or “horseplay” at the range. If, after 3 warnings, the problem persists, suspension of all privileges may occur. If upon return, the problem still persists, termination of Junior membership may occur.
Respect for the Coaches, Instructors and Range Officers is a must and their safety rules/orders must be obeyed.
Respect for other Club members and their equipment and good sportsmanlike behavior are always required.
Respect for the facility is required.
Shooting glasses and ear protectors are the responsibility of the parents to supply for their children. These items can be purchased through the Junior Club.
Team shooting is “in charge” in all facets of the sport. Team shooters take priority at any and all points.
Jr. Club members are required to clean up & put away any equipment they have used.
Children 10 and under must be accompanied by a parent/guardian. Because of safety, these children cannot be dropped off and left, a parent/guardian must be present.
Any equipment borrowed must be inventoried & signed out. Failure to do so may be construed as theft and will be handled accordingly.
Any equipment borrowed must be returned in reasonable, working condition. Parents are responsible for borrowed equipment.
All accidents or injuries must be reported to the Junior Club Coach, Instructors or Range Officer.
Before any food or drink is consumed, shooters must wash their hands. This is a must and is for the safety and health of the Junior member.
Eating food should be done only after shooting.
THE FUNDAMENTAL GUN SAFETY RULES
All guns are loaded.
Always keep the gun pointed in a safe direction.
Always keep your finger off the trigger until ready to shoot.
Always keep the gun unloaded until ready to use.
OTHER IMPORTANT SAFETY RULES
Be sure the gun is safe to operate.
Know how to use the gun safely.
Use only the correct ammunition for the gun.
Know the target and what is beyond.
Wear eye and ear protection.
Never use alcohol or drugs before or while shooting.
Store guns so that they are not accessible to unauthorized persons.
IF THE RANGE RED LIGHT IS ON, THERE IS NO HANDLING OF ANY GUN!
There may be other safety rules required by your range, so check with the Ranger Officer.
